Art That Makes a Difference

The artwork featured on this website has been created by Colorado photographer Brenda Biondo to raise awareness and funds for wildlife and wild spaces.

Zoolatry is a series of photographic collages that reference traditional stained glass windows of churches to elevate the perceived status of endangered animals and the natural environment. By placing images of wild animals in contexts typically reserved for religious figures and narratives, the digital composites encourage viewers to consider the natural world as similarly worthy of awe, respect and reverence. The work incorporates a growing variety of styles – from traditional stained glass to more stylized graphics – to create visually compelling artworks.

The images in this series are available as large-scale outdoor murals; prints on glass for window installations; fine-art prints; projections; window-cling transparencies; affordable posters; and free-standing panels. Commissions that feature the landscape and wildlife of a particular area are also offered.

Brenda’s photographic work is in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, the Denver Art Museum, the San Diego Museum of Art, the Center for Creative Photography and other institutions. Her work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and many other publications, and has been exhibited in solo and group shows throughout the country.
